A: We are not just that punk/metal place. I mean, the store is baby blue for chrissakes. We sell and know all kinds of music: jazz, noise, rock, hip-hop, metal, folk, electronic, psychemedelic… just ask. Better yet, come in and browse. We will shoot the shit with anyone. And, we have pleasant smiles, and we’ll show ‘em to you too.

Q: Why are your prices so low?
A: Because we are good. But, we are bad with math.

Q: The last time I was in there you were playing this album that kinda sounded like the Shins mixed with Animal Collective, maybe, but with a middle-eastern spin to it. I think it started with an H, or maybe an L. I don’t know. Do you have that in?

Q: Can I book a show there?
A: No. Just kidding. Maybe. First of all, most people assume that we book all of the shows that are in our store. We do not. Other promoters come to us with a couple of bands in mind to make a show. We just act as a venue.

Q: We don’t know anyone in Asheville. How can we get you to book us?
A: Not to sound rude, but, we are going to have to be pretty into you if, we, ourselves, book you at the store or elsewhere in town.

Q: So, I think you might dig what we’re doing. What’s the next step?
A: Please send us physical evidence of your musical efforts. We won’t make judgements based on your myspace profile, inspite of how pretty you are. Also, we won’t be able to keep up with any e-mail requests for shows. You have no idea how many we get. You are going to have to contact us by phone or come into the store. Please do not do so until after you have either mailed or handed us a demo.

A: Well, we are usually booked months in advance, so chances are that you can’t get a last minute booking. We book fast, and we book hard. If your demo isn’t to us at the LEAST a month before the show date, we are not going to be able to do anything for you.

Q: Well, we are a national act, and we are on a good label, and we’ve been at it for years, maybe you’ve heard of us. What then?
A: Send us some stuff, but if you think that you might already be one of our favorite bands, just give us a call.

A: For booking shows OTHER than the store (we book at all venues in town), and you are repping a fairly well known band, just call us. For booking shows at the store, send the package first, then treat us like any other venue you would contact. Do not call us if you do not have a specific date or package in mind! More than likely we will still need press and promo material. But, here is a rundown on our policies…We don’t do guarantees. Bands get 100% of the door. Sometimes we do hospitality. We can almost always provide plenty of North Carolina’s state drink, PBR, and plenty of water. Most bands have an easy time finding someone’s floor to crash on too.
